Privacy Policy
Effective: October 15, 2026 · Version: 2026-10-15
1. Information we collect
We collect account information such as name, email, account type, and optional profile details including birthdate, address, organization, role, and intended use. We collect subscription status and transaction identifiers from Stripe, but BuzzerBeam does not receive complete card numbers. We also process trivia decks, prompts, public source URLs, generated questions, evidence, account requests, and service interactions.
2. Automatically collected information
We may collect device and browser details, IP address, timestamps, authentication and security events, usage counts, plan limits, error information, and local-session identifiers. We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure website visits and understand aggregate usage, such as visited pages, referrers, approximate location, device type, operating system, and browser. Vercel Analytics is designed to operate without cookies and does not create cross-site visitor profiles. Local live-game information can remain on the host device and local network, while website account, billing, analytics, and AI features require online services.
3. How we use information
We use information to authenticate users; provide, personalize, and secure BuzzerBeam; process subscriptions; enforce limits; generate and verify trivia; maintain the user-submitted verified trivia bank; respond to requests; prevent abuse; troubleshoot; comply with law; and improve the service.
4. AI and user-submitted trivia
Prompts, public source URLs, source text, and requested settings may be sent to an AI inference provider to generate trivia. High-confidence questions may be stored in the verified trivia database with their source URL, evidence, confidence information, and a “user submitted” label. Do not submit confidential, personal, or restricted material.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We disclose information as needed to providers that operate the service, including Supabase for authentication and databases, Stripe for subscriptions and billing, infrastructure and hosting providers, and AI inference providers. We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, or complete a business reorganization or sale. We do not sell personal information for money.
6. Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and financial records, preserve consent evidence, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Account-closure requests may not erase information that must be retained for billing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or backup integrity. Verified questions derived from public sources may be retained in de-identified form.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including authenticated access, restricted credentials, and third-party payment processing. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
You can review and update profile information in Account Settings, reset your password, manage billing through Stripe, and request account closure. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to appeal a denied request. Submit requests through Account Settings. We may verify your identity before responding.
9. Cookies, local storage, analytics, and advertising
BuzzerBeam uses essential cookies and browser storage for authentication, trusted-host sessions, account identity, and player participation. These are used to deliver requested functionality and security. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies. The AI generator page may load Google AdSense, which may use cookies or similar technologies to select, deliver, and measure advertising. BuzzerBeam does not sell analytics data.
10. Children
BuzzerBeam accounts and paid plans are not directed to children under 13. Players can participate in locally hosted games without creating accounts. Hosts are responsible for choosing appropriate content and obtaining any permissions required for children participating in their events.
11. International use
Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate. Applicable protections may differ from those in your home country.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as BuzzerBeam changes. We will post the revised version and effective date and provide additional notice when required.
13. Contact
Privacy questions and rights requests may be submitted through the account contact and account-closure tools. Formal operator and mailing information will be supplied where required by applicable law.
